6 Ways To Celebrate Your Daughter’s 2nd Birthday At Home

My daughter, Kaitlyn turns 2 years old today and throwing an amazing birthday bash is one of my not-so-secret supermom power. However, with California’s social distancing restrictions the logistics of inviting family and friends over might not be possible right now. So instead of having a big party like we normally do… I got creative! Because there are still so many ways to celebrate your children birthdays at home.

Here are some of my tried and tested tips on how you can celebrate and have fun without throwing a party. I promise you will love these ideas too!

Kaitlyn’s Birthday Bash
  1. Have A Photoshoot

Of course I’m going to add my favorite thing in the world! My girls are definitely not camera shy (only sometimes) in fact they absolutely love it! I wonder who they got it from? Instead of having your usual photo booth which is let’s face it quite passé, take their photos! I also love piling all their photos into a photo-book and print them. One day you can gift them with a photo book of all their birthday parties and outfits.

2. Wear A Birthday Outfit

I mean you can’t have a photoshoot without a birthday outfit! We’ve been wearing pajamas for the past year, so why not spice it up!? My kids might not enjoy dressing up as much as I do, but birthdays are special so why not take a break from their unicorn jammies and wear cute tutu dresses!

3. Get Caked!

They say, “it’s not a birthday if there isn’t any cake to eat” or was it a candle to blow? Hmm nevertheless, cakes are always always a good idea. You can also make it extra special and bake a cake with your littles ones instead of buying one. Get creative and make it special!

4. Don’t forget about the party hats

If your child loves arts and crafts (and making a creative mess! Haha) than instead of buying them for $5 from amazon – you can create them with your littles. As long as you have a theme in mind, you can use recycled stuff around the house for the party. However, if you don’t have time to do arts and craft- don’t worry just buy from amazon.

5. Order their favorite food

Scratching your head when it comes to what to serve during your kid’s birthday bash? Just whip out their favorites, whether its an In-n-Out burger or a bag full of Sour Patch! Keep in mind that you can never go wrong with serving their go-to foods and make it fun.

6. Spend quality time together

At the end of the day birthdays are about spending quality time with people you love. And lets be honest, kids love attention and its important to give them undivided attention on their special day. We’re often preoccupied and distracted by meetings and blogging (yep, guilty as charged!). So on their day make sure that you make them feel like a princess and give them extra kisses.

There are many ways to liven up their birthdays during this time, you can even ask your friends and family to see if they are free to drive by your home. Just a quick drive-by will surely go the extra mile in making the birthday celebrant feel extra special! Have fun and Good Luck!

Our daughter probably won’t ever get to have a party as she was born on the Christmas Eve. We may try doing her half birthday, but that occurs in the summer, so might be out of luck there. We still celebrate as a family though and make sure she feels extra special.
