An Interview With An Aspiring Photographer

Meet my talented cousin, Michelle.

Michelle is a story telling art photographer who resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Michelle discovered her passion for photography at a very young age, but didn’t have the confidence to chase her dreams. Today, she is no longer afraid and in the last year, she has transpired her passion of photography at a full force. I am in awe of her talent and I am extremely proud of her. I am also glad she is finally pursing her dreams and life long goals. One thing I love most about Michelle is that she is not afraid to be different and her story tells us to never stop dreaming, never stop believing, never give up, never stop trying, and never stop learning.

1. Where do you draw your inspiration from?

I would say I love all sorts of creative arts: dance, fashion, traditional art like painting, writing, crafting. I really love storytelling too. So what inspires me when I shoot and coming up with concepts is starting something small like locations, props, colors, feelings and then I build from that.

2. What camera do you use?

I currently shoot with Sony a7iii, with sigma 35mm 1.4

3. How did you start your photography business?

I’ve always loved photography since middle school. I took a couple of photography classes, one film class in college which I learned to develop my own films. One of my dream careers was to become a photographer, but I didn’t believe I could do it. After a few years barely touching my camera, I decided I wanted to fully jump back into my passion for photography. I started shooting any kind of genre to explore and figure out what I enjoyed most, went to collabs and connected with people. Right now, I enjoy what I am creating and learning. I am starting to get a feel of what is my style. I feel photography is with what I’m meant to do, I am most happiest when I’m creating.

4. What is your definition of a boss babe?

A boss babe is someone who takes charge of their dreams. Who doesn’t wait and doesn’t let life control you. Being bold and following after your heart.

5. What are 5 things people might not know about you

My first passion was dance.

I love playing video games: The Sims and animal crossing.

As much as I love romance and coming of age movies, I love movies that are intricate that make you think, movies like Inception and Interstellar.

I’ve never had a pet before until 2 years ago when I adopted my cat, Miss Moon.

If I had a spirit animal, it would be a stingray.
