Photographs Are Forever: A Mommy and Me Spring Session

“A thing that you see in my pictures is that I was not afraid to fall in love with these people.” – Annie Leibovitz

And boy, did I fall in love with my recent momma and son sesh!

I started offering mommy and me photographs sessions and gosh, such a sweet and tender moment to capture! There is nothing as powerful as a mother’s love and nothing as healing as a child’s soul. A mommy and me session is so special to me. The raw and special connection between a momma and child is just so beautiful. Also, as a mama of two and also someone who struggled with infertility I knew my heart belong here and it was truly an honored to witness this special moment.

This is why I love photography. I get to meet plenty of amazing people with unique stories waiting to be told through photos. I love the feeling of being let in, being allowed to capture and witness unforgettable moments. It makes me feel like I’m in on a secret. I also love to show and remind people how beautiful they are through photographs.

I guess you could also say I was struck by the “mom and me” moment twice as much, being a momma myself. What I wouldn’t do for my girls… I wish I could protect them from the all the bad things in this world forever. And you bet I would, as much as I can! Even when they’re grown ladies and I’m an old (semi) wrinkly, but still an uber cool and stylish grandma.

So for the shoot, we did it during sunset so I could make use of the natural, soft sunlight that bounced off white, fluffy clouds. Paired with a pastel color palette, the combo was a winner, giving off a soft, dreamy quality to the photos. It’s a look that’s a personal favorite.

I’m quite happy it turned out looking so good, I was almost in tears (What?? I’m a big, softy marshmallow!) going through the photos. Honestly had a hard time picking out the best ones. I’m especially thrilled that momma bear loved the photos. It’s truly a special moment a mother would want to be able to look back to. A memento that triggers the memory and experience of bearing your child, those fleeting moments of doubting yourself in the process if you’re truly ready to be a mom, and then holding a beautiful human being in your arms… Say I love you to your moms, guys!!

I’m really looking forward to doing more of these intimate momma and baby sessions.

So, for all you new moms, what I would highly suggest you do is have a special shoot with your baby cub! It’s a great moment to capture and to keep forever and it’s fun to do too! There are a lot of awesome photographers out there you can pick from. The important thing to remember is that you like their style. You should also feel comfortable with them so you can really open up and that’s when the magic will happen. Your photos will look gorg, I guarantee!

If you’re digging my style of photography and would be interested in a photo session, let’s do it! You know I’ve got you and will make you look super good. Feel free to send me an email @ notesbycheeia@gmail.com and let’s set it up.
