A Mom’s Honest Review Of The June Hotel | Los Angeles

COVID-19 UPDATE: For the safety of guests and colleagues, everyone is required to wear a mask in all public spaces. Outdoor pools remains open with limited capacity and restaurant hours may vary. Please call and check before you book your reservation.

It’s the weekend and what do my husband and I do? We whisk away our girls for a weekend getaway, of course! We spent a weekend over at the Hotel June which is 30 minutes away from where we live. Got to love how easy it is to find great places to try and visit that’s not so far yet still feels like a quick, refreshing getaway. And the hotel was extremely cute and stylish.

The Hotel June recently opened its doors, only last April 2020 in fact, and seems to be made for what we’ve all been doing the last year— social distancing. Super breezy public spaces, with a limited number of rooms available so I imagine post-COVID, once people start to really travel again, they’d be fully booked every weekend, yet you’d still enjoy your personal space.

I love how the hotel is designed with intent, from the modern but beachy feels room features, the warm but totally cool colors, to its interesting furniture and fixtures. It perfectly captures the free-spirited vibe of California, “where every day feels like Saturday afternoon”, as they say. It’s also super accessible to the beach and to some interesting attractions.

They have this great big pool you can do laps in or jump in to cool off, and then lounge poolside after for some light reading or just to chill.

Since this is a family trip, the hotel gets plus points from this momma cos they don’t allow smoking in the hotel. There were no smoking in any public area, in the restaurants, or in the hotel rooms which I am all for cos I wouldn’t want to expose my family, especially my kids, to an environment. And I must say, I love that the hotel is extremely kid- friendly and it made us feel very welcome. For those travelling with a baby, they even provide cribs in the room if you request for one or a rollaway bed for a small fee (no need for us though, we like to squeeze in and be all snug in the king-size bed!) They also have a great selection of foods for the kiddos and adults and the staff were super friendly.

For the fur parents, guess what? They allow dogs in their hotel so your fur buddies can enjoy the beach with you too! Price-wise, they have some room packages thoughtfully put together, quite accessible for both travelers and locals looking for a change of scenery. The earlier you book, the better savings you get, so plan early!

We spent the weekend mostly by the beach in Malibu. The weather was very nice and so relaxing. The soft sound of the waves crashing was quite soothing while we did a gadget detox and disconnected from our devices. It felt so good to unwind and just be at the moment. I realized that there were still some things I didn’t know about my husband and I loved hearing him tell me about them. It’s pretty amazing when you learn new things about the people you love just by observing and really listening. My little beach babies had a good time too. We were all pretty content with our weekend plans. Overall, it was a very chill weekend with the girls in a very cool, budget-friendly boutique hotel!
